Did Sony pay Konami for MGS4 exclusivity? Shouldn't Konami care about all of their customers as well? It seems people can't keep their stories straight around here.
If exclusivity is good, then timed exclusivity serves a purpose as well. It is a matter of degree.
When a 3rd party developer makes a game exclusive for one console that is even more money down the toilet. So what's the difference?
You guys act like they are making this decision arbitrarily when it more likely has to do with the fact that the PS3 version simply isn't going to be ready at the same time.
That's not really true. I bought Bioshock originally on 360 and was a huge fan of the game, a year later it came out on the PS3 and I decided to get it because it was supposed to have the new challenge rooms and I thought they might improve it in some ways....wrong! The PS3 version looked like crap compared to the 360 version...the textures were lower resolution, the framerate was uneven and the whole game looked kind of blurry. The extra content hardly made up for it and even after the pa...
Well I think timed exclusives do have an impact. When a lot of people are eager to get their hands on a certain game and one console gets it first people are going to tend to get it for that console. For people like me who own both consoles and are looking forward to Lost Planet 2 there is no way that we are going to wait to get it on the PS3 when we want to play it as soon as possible, so we get it for the 360.
I think timed exclusives are somewhere between a multi-platform ...
But you have to realize that some people don't give a sh*t about games like LittleBigPlanet or Killzone 2 or Infamous. I have all the systems but I think PS3 fans way over hype every PS3 exclusive. LBP is a good game for some people, but it doesn't appeal to me. I rented it and enjoyed it somewhat but it got boring and would never be a game I would buy. Killzone 2 is a competent shooter, but overall it feels kind of boring to me, at least compared to games like Halo 3, Gears of War and Co...
Ha ha, thats true, there are a lot of parallels between the Gamecube and the PS3. I had never thought of some of those.
The 360 is my favorite console I have ever had and I am going to enjoy it no matter how much it sells, but it is nice to see it doing well.
Halo is a bigger selling franchise than God of War. And what crack are you smoking? You can't play Halo 3 or Halo Reach on PCs. Hardly anyone games on PCs anyway...at least not compared to consoles.
The PS3 needs a price cut, plain and simple. The 360 does just as much as the PS3 but is more affordable. That's not a good situation to be in for Sony.
Look, I'm sure Sony will pull through this just fine, but don't act like this generation hasn't seen a major reshuffling of the cards. Last generation PS2 owned over 60% of the market, while the Xbox and Gamecube split the remaining percentage. This generation the PS3 is in last place and is actually losing traction against t...
That's true, but as I understand it that has something to do with how PCs function as compared to consoles, not necessarily a limitation due to the capacity of DVD itself.
Whatever the case may be, the point still stands that the vast majority of games this generation do not require more than a 9gb DVD. In fact, I read of a study that was done in which it was found that the majority of games were not even filling a 9gb disc. It was also found that many PS3 games that used more ...
You act like there are so many games that need more than a 9GB DVD, when in fact 95% of games this generation fit just fine on DVD. The very few that don't can simply use more than one disc. It isn't a big deal. PC games are often much more graphically advanced than any PS3 or 360 game and yet they ship on a DVD.
When games like ES4 Oblivion and Orange Box, which contained five full games, can fit on one DVD it is absurd to try and imply that DVD is holding gaming back.

Why would you buy something just because it is exclusive? I am sure you meant that you are going to buy it because it is a superb exclusive.
I agree. The sense of entitlement many gamers have today is truly sad. I appreciate every developer out there that is making games, even the ones making games that aren't my favorites. Valve, in my opinion, has made some of the best games ever and has done so much for gaming, but some of their so-called "fans" turn on them the second they don't get every little detail their way. I really have to shake my head at those people.
I am a huge fan of the Half Life series and I can't wait for Half Life 2: Episode 3. I am sure it is on its way.
Left4Dead was one of my favorite games last year and I have honestly had more fun with it than many other games released around that time. We have already got some free DLC and Valve have said more is on the way and to be honest I am perfectly satisfied as it is. It has given me that much enjoyment. Left4Dead 2, like most Valve games, is a must-buy for me.
Don't worry, we'll trust you...because it's easy to see that you are a ps3 fanboy and all of you are smart. You can tell by your post how smart you are. Your ideas were much more intelligent than the ideas in the article, so don't worry about anyone trusting you.
Nintendo have not already done it. Where can I get these Nintendo games and hardware that allow me to use nothing but my body to control my games? Which device reads every part of my body in three dimensions? Or the voice recognition...
I could go on, but I think you get my point. If you want to pretend that they are the same just because they are both motion controls then Nintendo didn't do anything different either. But of course we all know they did.
Not...
Because the two consoles are fairly equal in power, but the 360 has a better design that makes it much more efficient and easier to work with, which allows most developers to get better performance out of it than the PS3. A few talented PS3 1st and 2nd party developers are able to invest the time and money necessary to get great results out of the PS3, but most developers don't have such luxuries and have to work hard to get their PS3 versions up to par with the 360 versions.
You know why people like jmare try to bring it down, it's obvious. But look at most of the gaming press. You know, people that actually get paid to have opinions about this stuff and who tend to be a lot more neutral. Well, they all recognize that this is exciting stuff.
Why should they shut up? They are right...the 360 is the only console that has sustained year over year growth...sorry if it hurts your feelings.
Halo ODST's campaign is as big as Halo 3's and also has a slew of multiplayer content. It is every bit as much a game as Halo 3 or basically any other shooter. It is a side story, not an expansion. There is a big difference.
Whether the other games also come out on PC or not is irrelevant since those games will have by far the bigger impact on the 360. So please try harder with you trolling BS.
CMRBE, so you are saying that this little lap top that I am writing this on can play those games? Get real. Your stupid spining is stupid.
Most PCs that average people have will not play graphically advanced games like these and the majority of people who will play these games will be playing them on the 360. Those are the facts. The Games for Windows market is just a little side market that makes Microsoft some extra money.
